Nawanshahr, March 20, 2018: With a view to articulate public opinion as well as to strengthen the medical fraternity against the National Medical Commission Bill, the IMA under the stewardship of its national president, Dr. Ravi Khanwedkar has been taking out " Bharat Yatra". The " IMA Bharat Yatra" would reach Nawanshahr on March 21, after paying respects at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar and the native village of Sardar Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan. Giving details, the office bearers of the Nawanshahr chapter of Indian Medical Association including Ravinder Karra,District president,Dr.JS Sandhu, district secretary, Dr. Paramjit Mann, State organising secretary, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Dr.Jagmohan Puri, Dr. Amarinder Saini, Dr. Kulwinder Mann, Dr. Dinesh Verma, Dr. Harinder Pal Singh, Dr. Rajesh Bhatia, Dr. Ranjeev Kumar, Dr. Varinder Pal Singh, at a press meeting, here today, said that the " IMA Bharat Yatra" would be accorded rousing welcome in district Nawanshahr. The medical fraternity would pay homage to the great martyrs at Khatkar Kalan and after taking inspiration from the great martyrs, a massive rally would be taken out to sensitise people about the ill effects of the NMC Bill.
The NMC Bill would virtually play havoc with the medical education as well as make the healthcare services. It would only promote big corporate houses, thus, taking the medical education and the healthcare services out of the reach of the common people. Only rich people would be able to have access to the medical education. The middle class and poor people irrespective of their caste could not even dreamt of taking admission to the medical college's, alleged the IMA office bearers.
