Fatehgarh Sahib, March 22, 2018: All out efforts on the part of the Executive Officer of Municipal Council Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib proved futile to get the official permission to purchase fogging machine for the council, in spite of the fact that council have crores of rupees in the account.
Notwithstanding the regular demand and pressure of the residents of the town for spray due to increase in mosquitoes, the Executive Officer in public interest decided to float tender for purchase of fogging machine by writing to Govt. that if the Govt. feel he has not taken the permission and purchased on excess rate, the amount may be deducted from his salary. By doing this he has set an example to take risk for the cause of public service.
Bhupinder Singh Executive officer told that various delegations of NGOs and resident welfare Associations have submitted him memorandum for spray. He said for any purchase the approval of house is needed, but unfortunately from the last six months no meeting of council could be held, so he wrote to Deputy Director to allow purchasing the machine, but he put certain quarries and asked to approach Civil Surgeon in this regard. He said he wrote to Civil Surgeon in this regard, but Civil Surgeon officer replied that they can't interfere in local bodies affairs contact with DC office. He wrote to DC office and DC office said write to Director Local Govt.
He said he was fed up and he was not facing the public, so now he has put up a note and decided to float tender to purchase the machine and mentioned in note that if he has caused any loss may be deducted from salary. He said as soon as council will get machine spray will be done.
It is worth mentioning that from the last one year all the development projects in the town have come to stand still and the town has been converted into hell like situation. Heaps of garbage, chocked sewer lines, digging of streets and roads by Sewerage board has further aggravated the situation and it is very difficult to walk on roads. Not even a minor work in council is done without the permission of ruling party MLA.
