Nawanshahr, March 23, 2018: A deputation of the Shikhiya Bachao Manch, Punjab, comprising, Jaswinder Singh Sidhu, Harjinder Pal Singh, Baljinder Singh Virk, Patgat jit Singh Kishsnpura, Amarjit Singh Kamboj, Jagshir Singh Gharu, Sukhchain Singh Manda, Karnail Singh Sadhra, Surinder Badhan, Gurinder Singh Ghakewali,Sarbdeep Singh, Raj Heon,today, met the Special Principal Secretary to Punjab CM, Gurkirat Kirpal Singh here. The Deputy Commissioner, Amit Kumar and the SSP, Satinder Singh was also present on the occasion. The Shikhiya Bachao Manch leaders apprised the Principal Secretary, of their on going agitation. Briefing him about their demands, the Teachers'Union leaders said that the clause of transferring teachers having completed seven years stay at a particular school in the new transfer policy, should immediately be withdrawn, the services of contractual employees should be regularised on their present pay scales, to withdraw the condition of minimum 60 students for deputing HT at primary schools to regularise the services of 5178 teachers and to release budget for paying salaries of the primary school teachers.
The SPS gave a patient hearing to the grievances of the teachers and assured them to discuss these with the CM ,Capt. Amaninder Singh and the Education Minister, Aruna Chaudhary at the earliest.
The Union leaders said that the different teachers unions under the aegis of "Shikhiya Bachao Manch" had exhibited their strength during the district level protest dharnas on March 21 and had announced to gherao the Education Minister on April 1 to protest against the "anti education and anti teachers" policies of the state govt.
