Nawanshahr, April 22, 2018: As many as 997 cases were disposed of, today, during National Lok Adalat held at Judicial Court Complex Nawanshahar and Balachaur. Cases related to criminal compoundable cases, Negotiable Instruments Act under section 138 cases, MACT, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour, bank recovery, debt recovery tribunal cases and pre-litigation cases were taken up during the special Lok Adalat. Following the disposal of the cases, award money of Rs 20947189 passed.
Disclosing this here today, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Parinder Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate said that a total of five benches were set up at Nawanshahr and Balachaur. The judicial officers, Jatinder Kaur, Judge, District Family Court, Rupinderjit Chahal, Additional district and Sessions Judges, Rajwinder Singh, Civil Judge (Sen. Division), Harshvir Sandhu, Civil Judge (Junior Division) chaired the benches at Nawanshahr while Rupinder Singh, Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate at Balchuar.
He further said that during the lok adalats, not only the cases were settled amicably and both parties left the court in win-win situation but they also saved their time and money. No appeal could be filed after the decision of lok adalat and the dispute among the parties came to end for ever. The court fee is also refunded when they settle their case in lok adalat. Due to speedy disposal of cases in Lok Adalats, the pendency of cases in courts would decrease, he added.
