Tree plantations will be done on road sides under Mission Tandrust Punjab
S.A.S. Nagar, June 12. 2018: To maintain smooth movement of vehicular traffic and to control road accidents, berms of link roads in district will be strengthened with earth filling, after that the repair work of link roads will be started. Stating this Deputy Commissioner Smt. Gurpreet Kaur Sapra issued requisite directions to Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) and District Development & Panchayat Officer for removing illegal encroachments from road sides.
Smt. Sapra said that farmers having their fields near to link roads are enlarging their field area by removing the soil of berms and cultivating on the land which was under berms. As such, they are advised to remove illegal encroachments by themselves before start of paddy plantation by 20 June and also complete earth filling work on road side berms otherwise, the total expenditure for earth filling will be collected from them. She said that Public Works Department has been directed to start repair of roads only after earth filling on berms, so that the roads could be strengthened. She appealed the farmers to come forwards for earth filling work.
Smt. Sapra said that all BDPOs and Panchayat Secretaries will ensure removal of illegal encroachments and will monitor the work of earth filling on road side berms. She said that besides earth filling, tree plantation will also be done on road sides under Mission Tandrust Punjab. She further said that during this season, tree plantation will also be done at schools, colleges, Panchayat Ghar, common lands and other govt. buildings and prominent locations.
