Ferozepur July 21, 2018: Satvir Kaur – 9th class student of DC Model School – won one Gold, 3 Bronze Medals, in Punjab State Badminton Open Ranking Championship held at Guru Nanak Badminton Hall from 15-20 July, by showing excellent performance.
Around 500 students participated in this open championship and Satvir Kaur won the gold medal in her under-17 with partner Yuvraj of Gurdaspur defeating Jalandhar in the final.
Similarly, Satvir along with her partner player Sanampreet Kaur Moga in under-17 and under-19 won three Bronze Medals in the Woman’s Double.
On this occasion especially Madam Garima Singh, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax, from Chandigarh, presided over the prize distribution function. In her address, she motivated the children to go ahead and work hard.
Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur Smt. Gagan Kundra, Badrana Chief Referee Harjinder Singh Waraich of the Punjab Badminton Association were also present on the occasion besides, sports coach Rakesh Kumar, Madam Shukura Begum, Neeraj Bansal, Madam Shahnaz, Varun Kumar.
On this occasion player, Satvir Kaur said that she gets very less time for practice in the stadium. She asked the district administration to give him more time to practice. Satvir Kaur, said that her goal is to get a national level medal and representation in the Punjab singles, for which she will be working hard to achieve this position. She gives credit for this achievement to his father and coach Jaswinder Singh.
