Nawanshahr, August 14, 2018 : Dr. Dev Raj Bhumbla, former Vice Chancellor, Haryana Agriculture University, Hissar , inaugurated the " Science Mela" organised at Government Senior Secondary School at his native village Malewal, situated in the Kandia area falling in the district, here today. District Education Officer, Vinod Kumar and Principal, Vijay Kumar apprised him of the activities being conducted to bring in the qualitative improvement in the school education under the " Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab" programme envisaged by the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar.
"Under the project, the innovative activities, models , taching techniques have been designed to make the teaching - learning process easy, effective and student oriented. The teachers have been imparted training to carry the different actvities under the project in well planned manner", said the DEO while adding that as many as 121 innovative activities had been designed to make the understanding of the basic concepts of science for the students.
The former Vice Chancellor was quite elated to experience the confidence level of the students while explaining the different concepts of the science through the activities and working models exhibited by them.
Showering ample praise, the eminent agricultre scientist and educationist, Dr. Bhumbla said that that the " Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab" project would definitely play a vital role in revamping education system in Punjab.
" The eloquency and confidence level prevailing among the students of a school situated in the backward Kandi area while answering the queries regarding the different activities are really amazing", said Dr. Bhumbla while exhorting the teachers and the students to maintain the dedication as well as consistency in implementing the project. The qualitative improvement in the school education in Punjab would enable the students especially belonging to the deprived section of the society to excel in the present era of globalisation. He also lauded the community mobilisation to boost educational reforms.
