Fatehgarh Sahib, September 13, 2018: Deputy Commissioner Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon today launched a massive drive against adulteration in eatable items by administering oath to the Diary, sweet shop, karyana, hotel and restaurant, dhaba, caterers, canteen, marriage palace and confectionary owners and representatives of these Associations not to prepare and sell adulterated eatable items and to create awareness among the people to boycott all those who sell adulterated items and to inform the administration in this regard.
Presiding over the meeting DC warned that if any citizen died after consuming any adulterated items, murder case u/s 302 will be registered against him. He called upon the traders to co-operate the district administration to make it a mass movement and not to sell or purchase adulterated eatable items particularly milk, paneer, Khoya, Karyana and grocery items. He said due to adulterated eatables items more and more people are falling in the trap of even serious diseases and the treatment has become so costly one cannot afford, so it is our moral duty to control this menace and without your co-operation nothing can be achieved. He also advised them to maintain cleanliness in their kitchens and shops. Interestingly after the meeting certain representatives of Associations said that officials of health department are responsible for encouraging the adulterators as they get handsome amount as bribe on monthly basis and those who refuse to pay they are being targeted and their samples are taken repeatedly. They said lust for money is the root cause of adulteration, if the health department initiates the campaign as mission adulteration can be controlled within days.
