Formidable and title contenders Punjab and Sind Bank ousted Central Railway by 5-3 in penalty shoot-out of the 47th SN Vohra's All-India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today. The regulation period ended in a 3-3 draw.
Punjab and Sind conceded a goal in the ninth minute when Vikas defeated their defnce to score for Central Railway. PSB mounted pressure and scored three successive goal to take a 3-1 lead. Jagjot neutralised the score in the 30th minute and Satbir got two goals in the 56th and 59th minutes. Central Railway hit back an pumped in two goals in five minute through Vikas (61st and 65th).
In penalty shoot-out Punjab and Sind Bank prevailed over their opponents by 5-3.
The second match of the day saw Punjab Police blanked Southern Railway of Hyderabad by 3-0. Mandeep Singh (19th), Ph Biju Singh (25th) and Daman (42nd) contributed one goal each for the winners.
