DC hails efforts of the staff
Jalandhar, October 14 (Amrit Brar) In a humanitarian gesture, the students and faculty of the Manav Sehyog School today handed over a cheque of Rs 31,000 as relief for the flood ravaged Kerala State to the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma towards the Kerala Flood Relief fund.
The students and faculty members of the school led by Principal Ms. Rajni Sharma gave cheque to the Deputy Commissioner at his office here at the District Administrative Complex. Hailing the effort of the school students and the staff, Mr. Sharma said that this initiative of the school would go a long way in providing succor to the people in flood affected Kerala.
He said that the generosity shown by the school students and faculty along with the other philanthropists of the city would certainly provide a healing touch to the flood ravaged people of Kerala.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the administration has dispatched more than 1400 quintals of flood relief material to Kerala from Jalandhar. Likewise, he said that with the support of local people the administration has transferred an amount of Rs 20.43 lakh to Kerala CM relief Fund. Mr. Sharma also wholeheartedly hailed the response given by the residents of the city for this noble cause.
On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, school teacher Ms. Amarinder Kaur and others were also present.
