Chandigarh, November 03, 2018: On the basis of 171-run first innings lead taken in a drawn two-day final match against South Zone, West Zone clinched the under-19 round robin two-day match cricket tournament organised by UT Cricket Association (UTCA) at Mahajan School of Cricket near IT Park, Chandigarh, on Friday.
After posting first innings total of 294 runs, West Zone bowled out South Zone for 169 runs in 46.3 overs. In doing so, West Zone grabbed first innings lead of 171 runs. Batting in their first innings, Vikrant (78), Kishore (22) and Shiv Arpit (21) emerged as South Zone’s main architects. Hem Pandey (5 for 66) and Satyam Sharma (3 for 70) combined well and ran through the South Zone batting line-up. After taking a lead of 171 runs, West Zone were bowled out for 169 runs in 78.4 overs. Amit (5 for 29) and Gitank (3 for 46) bowled well for South Zone. South Zone were 57 for 3 in six overs in their second essay when the match ended in a draw.
The prize distribution function was held to mark the concusion of the tournament. Sh Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh Chief General Manager State Bank of India was the Guest of Honour at the function presided over by Sh Sanjay Tandon, President of UTCA. West one was awarded the Winners Running Trophy. Mr. Abhishek was awarded the Best Batsman Award and Mr Gitansh bagged the best bowler award. Mr Suraj man of the Series.
