Chandigarh, November 16, 2018: Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association trainee and qualifier Rishabh Sharda and Sara Yadav of Madhya Pradesh won the men's and women's singles titles, respectively, in the Rs 100,000 CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championships at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.
There were upset In both singles finals,. Qualifier Rishabh Sharda toppled top seed Paramveer Singh Bajwa of Punjab 6-4, 6-2 while unseeded Sara Yadav surprised third seed Kaavya Sawhney 6-2, 6-3.
In sen’s singles finals Rishabh Sharda displayed his top form. Hemaintained his cool temperament and played consistently with a good momentum. Rishabh tried to bring back every ball on the court and fought back for every single point.
Ranjeet Singh of CLTA and his partner Vilaser Kahte had yesterday won the men’s doubles title. Ranjeet and his partner defeated Hardeep Singh and Yuvraj Singh in 3 setter super tie break match 7-5, 2-6, 10-5 in doubles final.
In women’s singles final , nationally ranked 24th Sara Yadav defeated nationally ranked third Kaavya Sawhney in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Sara completed a double. Partnering CLTA trainee from Jammu and Kashmir, third seeds Prinkle Singh defeated second seeds Kaavya Sawhney and Sharanya Shetty in women’s doubles final 6-3, 6-2.
CLTA Patron-in-Chief Rajan Kashyap distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up of both events.
