Ram Parkash won the Sahib Dayal memorial Open chess tournament

Two Day State level Sahib Dayal memorial open chess tournament for seniors as well as under 14 and 17 for boys and girls concluded at Sirhind town today. MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra Fatehgarh Sahib distributed the prizes to the winners. More than 250 players from Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal and Delhi participated in the tournament. Ram Parkash won the tournament, whereas Anuj Bansal remain runner up.
Addressing the gathering Kuljit Singh Nagra appreciated the efforts of Sahib Dayal memorial trust to promote sports in the area. He called upon the youths to adopt sports as it develops discipline and keeps them away from drug abuse.
Prof. Narinder Sood national level player of chess and member of organising trust said that the State Govt.should encourage the chess game like Tamil Nadu, where the Govt. starts imparting training from the grass root level to promote chess game. He said it is a brain game and develops the sense of sportsmanship.
Subhash Sood Secretary PPCC and President Ashoka Educational Trust, Prof. Bikramjit Singh President Punjab Chess Association, Gagan Sood, Nitin Sood also addressed.
