Ferozepur, November 27, 2018: On Tuesday, at around 11 am the farmers from Ferozshah village supported by Bharti Kissan Union Qadian Punjab, released the stray cattle in front of the DC office at District Administrative Complex, brought in a four truckload, in protest against the nuisance of stray cattle in the area.
Speaking to the media persons, Gurbans Singh, District Chief Secretary of BKU(Q) said, the farmers are facing lot inconvenience from the stray cattle.
We have adopted the protest to draw the attention of the administration by triggering panic among commuters and those coming to the DC office.
He said the stray cattle entered our fields and damaged the standing crops causing huge financial loss.
A local NGO Gogia said, in the past, there had been a steep rise in the number of accidents on the roads due to stray animals but the authorities concerned have not bothered to make arrangements to save the lives of the people. He said, the government is even collecting cow cess from the people but hardly any planning have been made by the government. Around 80 acres of land in Ferozepur for cattle pond is being utilized for other purposes.
One of the farmers standing there even threatened to file a petition in this regard to get relief.
On the other hand, DC Ferozepur B S Dhaliwal said, shortly a meeting of officers and local NGOs will be called to sort out the matter.
