Ghagga,Patiala, January 10 - The National Scheduled Castes Alliance today launched its pamphlet drive from Home district of CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Patiala and also in Vidhan Sabha constituency Shutrana. Victims protesting through symbolic hunger strike since 21st December at Sector 25 Rally Ground Chandigarh also participated in the pamphlet distribution.
Through their pamphlets the protesters showcased their resentment against the anti-scheduled castes policies of the State Government and its incapability to tackle with the problems affecting the community. The pamphlets were also distributed to raise awareness on the increasing crimes of hatred against the Community and also condoning the acts of social boycott and discrimination increasing rapidly under the rule of Capt. Amarinder Singh.
Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi, MP from Patiala also joined the pamphlet drive to support the cause that the National Scheduled Castes Alliance was fighting. While addressing the crowd gathered during the Pamphlet drive, he said, "Captain Amarinder Singh and his government has been an absolute failure in cases dealing with crimes against the Scheduled Castes community. We support NSCA in its fight and shall not tolerate any oppression or discrimination at all."
Paramjit Singh Kainth, President of the Alliance said , "We have started this pamphlet drive from Patiala and Shutrana and we shall continue to other constituencies and districts of Punjab. Our struggle started on 21st December with victim families of Shergarh and Atalan in District Patiala, sitting on symbolic Hunger strike at Sector 25 Rally Ground, Chandigarh. No action was taken against the accused in both the cases and the state government remained ignorant to the plight of these poor families. This pamphlet drive shall bring the atrocities against the scheduled castes community into the mainstream and hopefully a solution to tackle the social boycott and discrimination against the community can be devised."
Kainth further explained, "These innocent families sitting on the symbolic hunger strike have been traumatised with fake FIRs registered against them. Section 326, 307 of IPC have been imposed illegally on them. They have suffered boycott and discrimination in their villages by the hands of the landlords who beat them mercilessly. Our fight to provide them justice and for the FIRs to be struck down against them."
Kainth further alleged that "On the directions of the Shutrana MLA Nirmal Singh the accused have been provided protection and there has not been any action taken against them so far. Such cases of Political involvement are occurring in increasing number under this Congress regime."
