Technical Education Minister Punjab, Mr Charanjit Singh Channi , today, called upon the newly elected panchayats to help in making state drug free. Administering oath of office and drug free Punjab, he asked the panchayats to monitor their villages closely and bring the drug victims to OOAT centres for treatment.
He also asked the panchauats to take a pledge regarding not to support drug smugglers or suppliers in any way. Adressing more than 3300 panches-sarpanches, member block samities and zila parishad, Mr. Channi said after getting elected as Srapnach and panch, now it was the prime duty of all of us to develop the villages with the help of all the residents un-biasedly.
Conveying the best wishes of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh to the newly elected representatives, he stressed the need of overall development of villages in the coming days, for which adequate grants would be provided by the state.
Terming panchayats, first step of democracy, he said that it was our duty to serve the people with dedication and honesty. He said that the decision on common issue without prejudice would maintain harmony and brotherhood that would further strengthen the unity and integirty.
Lauding the vision of chief minister of providing 50 percent reservation in local bodies and panchayat elections, he called upon the women representatives present in the oath taking ceremony to take part in various delebrations and decision making process for betterment of their villages instead of delegating their powers virtually to their male family members.
He said that state governemt was going to organise job fests in Punjab in February to keep its promise of Ghar Ghar Rozgar. He also added that the rural youth had been equipped with skill training to make them able to get jobs in various fields.
During the function, MLA Balachaur Ch. Darshan Lal Mangupur and former district President of Congress Satvir Singh Palli Jhikki also extended thier wishes to the newly elected sarpanches and panches.
Others who were presrent there, included IG STF R K Jaiswal, DC Vinay Bublani, SSP Deepak Hilori, Former MLA Guriqbal Kaur and District President Prem Chand Bheema.
