Fatehgarh Sahib.February 10, 2019: To ensure the supply of safe drinking water to the residents of 92 villages of the district, the World Bank funded canal-based drinking water project worth Rs.111.53 crore has been sanctioned and the work will start soon, said Jaspreet Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner while presiding over the meeting of the officials of various departments here today.
He said that besides this to solve the problems related with water supply in the district various other projects would also be launched soon. He said that 5 villages would be covered under the scheme of NABARD, one under NRDWP, two under Sub Component-1 A of World Bank and 6 villages would be covered under Sub Component-2 A of World Bank for the water supply projects.
He said that 55 applications for water supply connections and 347 for the construction of the toilets which were received during the camps organized under MGSVY have been cleared and the work was in progress. He further said that the district administration was committed to provide the benefits of each and every scheme of the government to the eligible beneficiaries.
