Jalandhar, March 13, 2019: In order to enhance the teaching skills of volunteers of Special Training Centres running under the National Child Labour Projects in the district, the Labour department organized a one day training workshop today at the local Virsa Vihar.
Inaugurating the workshop in which 54 teacher volunteers from all schools of NCLP participated, the Project Director cum Assistant Commissioner Labour Department Jalandhar Inderjeet Singh Sra said that these schools being under the scheme aims at rehabilitation of child labour. He said that the scheme seeks to adopt a sequential approach with a focus on rehabilitation of children working in hazardous occupations and processes in the first instance. Sra said that children from hazardous occupations were withdrawn from these occupations and then put into special schools in order to enable them to be mainstreamed into the formal schooling system.
The main trainer of the program Sunita Sharma gave a detailed presentation to the teachers about the topic of the workshop- 'Special teaching techniques to teach child labour kids’.
On the occasion Project Manager Avtar Singh, Program Manager Seema, Labour Inspectors Balwinder Singh and Chandan Gill, Sukhjeet, Sunil Kumar, Ramanpreet Kaur and others were also present.
