CHANDIGARH, MARCH 16, 2019: Top seed Ayushmaan Arjeria from Madhya Pradesh lifted boys under-14 singles title in the Road to Wimbledon Junior Masters at the grass courts of Chandigarh Club in Sector 1 here today. Ayushmaan Arjeria defeated Bushan Haobam from Manipur in a 3 setter marathon match by 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 7-5
Both players played high intensity till end of the game. In the 1st set Bushan saved six set points and won the set 7-6(4).
In the second set Bushan was leading 5-2 on his service. Ayushman bounced back and won 7-6(3) after saving two match points in the set. In the final set Ayushman established a commanding 5-1 lead. Bushan fought back strongly and made it 5-5 in the final set. Finally Ayushman used his experience with his cool temperament and won the final set 7-5.
Former Chief Justice Allahabad High Court Justice S.S. Sodhi was the chief guest.
Meanwhile All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) coach from Wimbledon, Jeremy Bates CLTA president Jai Singh Gill and Chandigarh Club president Sandeep Sahni distributed the prizes to the winner and runner-up of event.
