Awareness rally and human chain formed under sveep program

Jalandhar, March 18- As a part of the ongoing Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary-cum-Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Jalandhar Cantonment Constituency Dr Nayan Jassal on Monday flagged off an awareness rally and formed a human chain to the make the people especially the students aware of their voting rights.
Flagging off the rally at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Girls, Dr Jassal said that it was all the more important to keep the youth abreast about the entire democratic process.
She said that under the SVEEP program maximum efforts were being made to apprise the youth how to get enrolled as a voter and then exercise their franchise to strengthen democracy at the grass-root level.
She said that democracy could be successful only if only all stakeholders especially the young voters participate in the poll process with full zeal and enthusiasm.
Dr Jassal stated that under the SVEEP program apart from holding college level camps such initiatives could play a pivotal role in making the students aware of their democratic rights.
She said that apart from strengthening the democratic process, this would ensure proactive participation of the youth.
On the occasion, she also apprised the young voters about the working of the EVM and VVPAT machines.
