Fatehgarh Sahib, March 22, 2019: The district police has recovered 1.5 Quintal of poppy husk from a truck during checking of vehicles kept in a specially designed box in the driver’s cabin and arrested two brothers, besides this police also recovered 34000 intoxicant tablets from a peddler during a naka, who was carrying in a bag on motor cycle. The police claim that it has unearthed a big drug seller family of Bhadson town in Patiala district during the interrogation of one Bhalinder Singh, who was arrested with 6 Kg. Opium last days.
While addressing the media persons Amneet Kondal SSP said that police has intensified its drive against anti social and drug peddlers, CIA staff headed by Harpal Singh SP (Investigation) had erected naka at T point Bugga chowk in Amloh town, the police stopped a truck number PB-23M-2709 for checking, the driver got nervous and could not answer the queries of police and during thorough search police detected a specially designed box in the cabin under driver’s seat and after opening it police recovered 5 bags containing approximately 1.5 Quintal of poppy husk. SSP said during interrogation they revealed their identity as Umkar Singh 40 year and his brother Bhavkhandan Singh 42 residents of village Aladadpur in Amloh. They admitted that they are involved in smuggling of drugs and bring it from other States and supply in Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala area. They are the owners of the truck. SSP said during further interrogation their sources of purchase and supply will be ascertained.
SSP said Mulepur Police during a naka signalled a pillion rider to stop for checking and during search of the bag he was carrying police recovered strips of approximately 34000 intoxicant tablets. He was identified as Vijay Kumar alias Monu resident of Ambala; he was riding Hero Honda HR-01X-2675. He admitted that he was supplying drugs regularly.
Meanwhile answering a query regarding the arrest of one Balinder Sahni resident of Motihari district in Bihar along with 6 Kg Opium near Railway Station Sirhind last days, SSP said during interrogation he revealed that he used to work as a courier for Beant Singh and his brother Gurpreet Singh residents of village Sahiwal in Bhadson Police Station of Patiala district. SSP said the family is known in the area for selling drugs and both the brothers are facing various cases under NDPS Act. She said both are absconding and will be arrested.
