JALANDHAR, March 22- Aiming to sensitize all the food business operators (FBOs), the health department organized a second workshop for the food business operators belonging to the district.
As many as 46 participants from the different hotels attended the workshop and were given certificates by the health department at the end of the workshop.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Balwinder Singh, Food Safety Officer Mrs Rashu Mahajan and the representatives of FASTO Private Limited detailed the representatives about the hygienic and safe practices while preparing the food for the people in their premises.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Balwinder Singh said that the department is committed to ensuring quality and safe products to the people.
He said that the workshop was continuity of training program started by the health department to provide mandatory training under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Mr Singh added that the training will help to understand the essence of maintaining standard food safety and hygiene practices.
DHO said that today's workshop was exclusively for the representatives of hoteliers who were trained as supervisors and next workshops will be held for restaurants, bakery, dairy and street food vendors.
He also said that those food operators indulging in any sort of malpractice would not be spared and action would be taken against such persons.
