Jalandhar, March 22, 2019: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nakodar Mr Amit Kumar Panchal on Friday exhorted the youths to ensure their massive participation in the election process and exercise their franchise for the stronger democracy.
Addressing the gathering during a special awareness program organized at KRM DAV College, Panchal said that India has the highest population of younger people and they must shoulder responsibility towards the country by actively participating in the voting process.
SDM said that each vote has its own importance and the youths have not only to cast their own vote but they must convince the other people to exercise their franchise so that democratic process in the country gets strengthened.
He added those who have not made their vote, they can still apply for the vote till April 19 before the polls. Mr Panchal said that the youth can also register them as voters through a single click on their computer or mobile, way back from their home as to facilitate them the Election Commission of India has launched National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App.
Further, the teams of district administration apprised the young voters about the working of the EVM and VVPAT machines. A rally was also organized in the college campus to make the students aware of the voting rights.
Meanwhile, SDM also honoured the students for part taking in quiz competitions held during the seminar. Earlier, Principal of the College Dr Anup Kumar welcomed the SDM in the college.
On the occasion, Deputy Director Field Publicity Mr Rajesh Baali and others were present.
