Jalandhar, April 22,2019 : In order to motivate the voters to exercise their franchise enthusiastically in the upcoming general elections, the Secretary Regional Transport Authority cum Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Jalandhar Cantt Dr. Nayan Jassal flagged off Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness van today.
The Secretary RTA said that the motive of flagging off this van was to make the people aware about the importance of right to vote and to encourage them to participate in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls. She expressed hope that the van would act as a catalyst to make the people, especially youngsters, aware of need for enrolling them as voters in democratic system and about their voting rights. Dr. Jassal said that this medium would be aptly utilized for generating maximum awareness amongst the masses so that they could actively participate in the ongoing democratic process.
Secretary RTA said that the administration was laying thrust on encouraging the voters to use this opportunity for strengthening democracy at the grass-root level. She said that the vans would help in sensitizing the youth to be active partners in the democratic system. Dr. Jassal said that this van which would cover the entire assembly segment would help in awakening the people about their voting rights.
