Jalandhar, May 13, 2019: Under the banner of Jalandhar Chess Association (JCA), Jalandhar Chess Institute (JCI) organised a two day Jalandhar district chess championship 2019 at CT World School, Shahpur in which around 100 young chess players across the city participated.
The tournament was closed by Madhu Sharma Principal, JCA Secretary Muneesh Thapar, Aman Mittal, Associate Director LPU. The tournament was being held under four different categories, U-9, U-13, U-17 and U-25.
U-9 category, Shreyas Arora, Rushil Jain bagged first and second positions where as under girls category, Shresthi Gupta and Ananya Arora won first and second prizes. U-13 (Boys) category, Dhairya Aggarwal won first position and Divyam Puri stood second. And under girls category, Jahnvi and Bhavya stood first and second. U-17 boys, Dhirain and Suvibhu bagged first and second positions whereas as girls, Nupur and Japleen stood first and second. U-25 category, Dushyant and Namitbir stood first and second.
JCI President Kirti Sharma and Secretary Madhav Thapar informed that winners of championship will now represent Jalandhar district in respective Punjab State Chess Championships.
Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group congratulated the winners and also lauded the efforts of JCA for organizing this event of great interest and said that such events increases the power of thinking and reasoning of the players and make them more witty and active.
