Forest dept kicks off campaign for planting saplings
Jalandhar, June 3, 2019: Punjab forests and wild animals department on Monday kicked off campaign from Nandanpur village for planting saplings.
The principal Chief Conservator Jatinder Sharma planted 550 saplings at the Government Primary School in the village.
He said the campaign which initiated with the planting of 550 saplings is dedicated to the 550th Prakash Purv of Sri Guru Nanak dev ji. He said the campaign would be a real tribute to Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
The saplings planted on Monday include Amaltas, Amla, Arjun, Bahera, Siris, Bohar, Neem, Shisham, Sukhchain.
He said each and every village of the district would be provided with same type of saplings for plantation. He said the Rural Development and Panchayat department had already completed the process of providing lands for planting saplings in the state.
He urged the people to come forward for making this plantation drive a grand success, Mr Sharma said this gigantic work cannot be accomplished without their active support and participation.(agency)
