Nawanshahr, July 10, 2019: The motivational visit by the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, on Saturday in self made smart schools at villages Takarala and Bhaddi in Balachaur sub division of the district has started yielding encouraging results. As many as 14 Government High Schools situated at villages Mutton, Paniali Kalan, Simbal Mazara, Garhi Kanugo, Garlon Bet, Mehatpur, Olladani, Chandpur Rurki, Chhadauri, Kaulgarh, Pojewal, Chandiani Khurd and Rakkeran Dhan would soon set up digital classrooms. While Khawayeesh Sewa Society, an NGO, which has been doing a yeoman's service in sprucing up infrastructural facilities in rural schools would provide 50 per cent matching financial assistance to the schools for setting up digital classrooms, the 50 per cent of the total funds would be mobilised through donations.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, during his visit to the self made smart schools at village Takarala and Bhaddi while lauding the dedicated efforts of the school teachers and the NGO for lifting the standard of infrastructural facilities as well as quality education in the rural schools, exhorted them to replicate the same in other schools. He also asked the District Education Officer and District Smart School Mentors to initiate efforts to rope in the NGOs and community to realise the dream of setting up digital classrooms in rural government school.
The District Education Officer( SE), Harcharan Singh, Deputy District Education Officer(SE), Amrik Singh, District Smart School Mentors- Principal Rajneesh Kumar , Raj Bhatia , Ravinder Surapuri, Baljinder Singh Virk , then held a meeting with the representatives of the NGO- Khawayeesh Sewa Society to provide financial assistance for the purpose. A comprehensive plan keeping in view the number of students and the estimated cost of setting up digital classrooms in different schools was prepared.
With a view to implementing the plan, a meeting of the school heads , representatives of the SMCs, Panchayats and prominent citizens of the 14 villages was held at Government Senior Secondary School, Bhaddi today. District Education Officer(SE), Harcharan Singh, District Smart School Mentors -, Rajneesh Kumar, Baljinder Singh Virk, Ravinder Surpauri, Raj Bhatia, Parmod Bharti, member, Zila Shikhiya Sudhar Team, Principal Arun, while making them aware about the project of converting schools into smart schools, exhorted them to mobilise community participation to convert the drive launched to bring in improvement in school education into a mass movement. The Computer Teacher, Lakhwinder Kumar, demonstrated the functioning of the digital class rooms on the occasion. The school heads were quite enthusiastic to express their willingness to set up the digital classrooms.
