Jalandhar, July 11, 2019 : In order to maximise participation of people in plantation drive to mark 550th parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the Forest department today initiated plantation drive at a urban Estate Phase II locality of the city.
During the drive initiated with the help of NGO Bhai Ghaniya Ji Sewa Society, the Divisional Forest Officer Mr Rajesh Gulati and Forest Range Officer
Mr Davinder Pal Singh along with office bearers of society planted the saplings. They also distributed saplings to people for planting them at the vacant spaces. During the drive saplings if Neem trees and triveni were planted in Urban Estate phase II locality.
Interacting with the people both the officers said that there was no shortage of saplings for planting in the district. The officers further said that any NGO or individual could approach the department for getting such saplings free of cost for planting. They said that the department was firmly committed for enhancing green cover in the district to make it clean, green and pollution free.
