17 school buses challaned, 2 impounded in Ferozepur under Safe School Vahan Scheme
Strict action is required to make transportation safer for children: DC
Ferozepur, July 17, 2019: Under directions of High Court and Punjab Child Rights Welfare Commission, Ferozepur administration under Safe School Vahan Scheme challaned 17 school buses and impounded two that were found to be operating without a permit in Guruharsahi, by a team members headed by CDPO and Task Force jointly.
As many as 17 vehicles were challaned and two were impounded, for not fulfilling the norms under Safe School Vahan Policy.
Deputy Commissioner, Chander Gaind said, “Strict action is required to make transportation safer for children. We need to create awareness amongst the school bus operators to get the antecedents of the drivers and the identities of the attendants to be verified from police. He said, the Child Protection Officer has been directed to make the checks and submit the report on the same.
Child Protection Officer, NIC, Jaswinder Kaur asked the school principals and drivers of the vehicles to follow the instructions as per the Safe School Vahan Policy.
She said, only with better security arrangements, we can hope for the better future of the students and this checking will be a continued process to ensure the safety of the school children.
