Jalandhar, August 1,2019 : In a major breakthrough as part of the state’s drive against drugs, the Kapurthala Police on Thursday seized 5 Kg of Heroin, worth Rs. 25 crore in the international market, during an Intelligence based operation, in which 1 kg of the narcotic was found concealed in 10 boxes of a popular soap brand.
One person, identified as Kapil Arora s/o Manohar Lal Arora of Mahavir Nagar, Vikaspuri, PS Tilak Nagar New Delhi, has been arrested and an FIR has been registered in Police Station Sadar Kapurthala under section 22-61-85 of NDPS Act.
Kapil was reported running the drug racket with his close aide Deepak Kumar s/o Satish Kumar r/o J-17 Hari Nagar New Delhi. There was no previous criminal record against either of them.
Disclosing this here today, Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta said Kapil had arrived from New Delhi with the contraband in a bus. The drug was meant for supply to Rajbir Singh s/o Balwant Singh, Sukhjeevan Singh S/o Balwant Singh, Hans Raj s/o Dara Singh, Dilbag Singh s/o Balwinder Singh, all residents of village Latianwal, besides and Lovpreet alias Lovely s/o Gurcharan Singh r/o Sechan, all in the PS Sultanpur Lodhi area of Distt Kapurthala.
Gupta said that Kapil Arora had confessed to have supplied 6 Kgs Heroin thrice in the past one month to these five accused.
The DGP further revealed that there were already two NDPS Cases registered against Dilbag Singh at the Special Cell, New Delhi. Sukhjeevan also had two cases under NDPS Act at Police Station Sultanpur Lodhi and Special Cell, New Delhi. While there is no previous criminal record of Lovepreet Singh alias Lovely, his father is a proclaimed offender in an NDPS Case.
Reiterating his zero tolerance against drugs, the DGP said that the entire department was working 24X7, with field officers/officials coordinating to eliminate the drug menace from the state.
