Amritsar, September 10, 2019 : A Multinational IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) conducted a seminar on "Digital Impact Square (DISQ)" at the Guru Nanak Dev University. This programme was organised by the Department of Placements of the University with the objective to encourage young engineers to solve daily life issues through the use of technology. A large number of students of Computer Engg. & Technology, Computer Science and Electronics Departments of the main campus as well as all the regional campuses attended this seminar.
Sameer, Innovative Coach from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Nashik was the resource person. He delivered the lecture on solving social issues using technology. He said that the platform of DISQ provides an opportunity for talented students from across the country to solve social issues and pressing challenges in the areas like Health & Hygiene, Education & Skills, Financial & Personal Security, Energy, Water & Environment, Food & Agriculture, Housing & Transportation and Citizen Empowerment & Transparency. He said that TCS will provide 6 months internship as well as financial and technical assistance to students for implementing their ideas on above social issues.
He said that it is an open social innovation platform for enhancing the lives of citizens. The platform encourages innovation using digital technologies to address the needs of citizens through their voice and that of the local administration, government, and industry. In the process, the platform fosters a culture of innovation through a series of sustained innovation cycles, provides an opportunity to bring research and technology from academia to influence every-day life, and accelerates the journey of many from being ideators to entrepreneurs.
The Placement Department keeps on arranging seminars of experts from the industry on a regular basis to update the students.
