1089 TEAMS TO ADMINISTER POLIO DROPS TO 1.29 LAKH CHILDREN BETWEEN AGE GROUP OF 0-5 YEARS

Jalandhar, September 14, 2019: The the health department on Saturday flagged off a polio awareness rally to sensitize the polio drive which will be started on September 15 (today) to September 17 in Jalandhar.
A spokesperson of the department said that this is migratory Pulse Polio campaign in which the teams of the health department will administer the polio drops to 1.29 lakh children between the age group of 0-5 years in the special campaign.
He said that a total of 1089 teams have been formed that include 1002 house to house teams, 33 transit teams and 54 mobile teams for the successful coverage of 101622 children in urban and 27617 children in rural areas. Further, 152 supervisory teams have also been constituted for monitoring the drive.
He told that the mobile teams will administer polio vaccine to children living in semi-urban areas, slums, small-big factory campuses and transit teams will administer drops to the children at bus stands, railway stations.
He said that polio teams would cover bus stand, railway stations, and markets besides brick kilns, slums with migration, construction sites and other areas during the three-day drive.
He said that the migratory population residing in slums and brick kilns will be specially covered and appealed to the residents to assist the health teams in carrying out this drive successfully.
He added that the health department would make concerted efforts for making Pulse Polio Campaign a huge success in the district.
