Jalandhar, October 10,2019: - In view of the Shobha Yatras on October 11 and 12 for commemorating the Parkash Utsav of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji on October 13, District Magistrate Varinder Kumar Sharma has ordered that all meat and liquor shops falling on the routes of Shobha Yatras will remain closed on October 11 and 12.
Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC), 1973 and section 54 of Punjab Excise Act, District Magistrate has ordered that all the liquor and meat shops on the route of Shobha Yatra of Basti Areas will remain closed on October 11 and on October 12, all the liquor and meat shops falling on the route of Shobha Yatra of City will be remain shut.
He said that the decision has been taken on the account of the religious importance of the Yatras.
He added that opening of the meat and liquor shops on the route could create major law and order problem by hurting the sentiments of the people.
