Jalandhar, November 1, 2019:- The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday asked the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (Development) Kulwant Singhi directed to form special teams led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrates to check the health services in Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital.
Presiding over a meeting, Sharma said that the surprise checking by the teams would ensure better and timely health services to the people visiting the hospital.
He told the ADC (D) to set up the teams and start inspections in the civil hospital to check the attendance of the doctors, staff, functioning of machines, availability of medicines, cleanliness and others.
Further, Sharma also told the health department to expedite the registration of the people under the Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Beema Yojna under which 2.91 lakh families of the district were entitled to cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in various empanelled hospitals.
Deputy Commissioner said that the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had launched this pro-people scheme on August 20. He said that under this scheme e-cards were being issued to the beneficiaries for cashless treatment under 1396 packages.
Sharma said that treatment under OPD was not included under this scheme but secondary and tertiary treatment would be fully covered under it. The Deputy Commissioner said that more than 36 major hospitals of the district have been empanelled under this scheme.
Sharma said that apart from these, the beneficiaries could avail the scheme in all the government hospitals in the district.
Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Chawla said that under this scheme pre-existing diseases would also be covered. She said that the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) families as per Socio-Economic Caste Census (2011), Blue Cardholder families, farmers who have been issued J-Forms by Punjab Mandi Board and their family members, traders registered with Excise and Taxation Department and construction workers registered with the construction worker’s welfare board were eligible for benefits under the scheme.
On the occasion, ADC (D) Kulwant Singh, ADC (G) Jasbir Singh, Assistant Commissioner Warjeet Walia, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Kaur Duggal, DFWO Dr Surinder Kumar and others were present.
