Kapurthala, 19 February, 2020: As many as 2146 students were examined during 33rd free dental health fortnight organized by the Health Department Kapurthala under the supervision of Dr. Jasmeet Kaur Bawa Civil Surgeon Kapurthala concluded here today.
Speaking on the occasion Civil Surgeon Dr. Jasmeet Kaur Bawa stressed the need for maintaining Dental health and hygiene. She said good dental health is important to maintain healthy mouth, teeth and gums. She emphasized that it is necessary to visit dental health professionals regularly for good oral hygiene. Dr. Jasmeet Bawa said that bacteria from the mouth can cause infections in other parts of the body.
District Dental Health Officer Dr. Surinder Mall said during the fortnight from February 1 about 3104 patients were examined. She said that 170 free dentures were distributed among the needy elders, even though a target of 110 dentures had initially been set by the department.
Around 2146 Students were examined during the camp. She said that the aim of the dental fortnight is to generate awareness among masses about oral health. The Pediatric corner in Dental OPD to alleviate the fear of dental treatment in children.
Acs Dr. Ramesh kumari Banga, Dead Of the Department( HOD ) DR. Kuljit Singh, DMC Dr.Sarika Duggal, District Family Planning Officer DFPO) Dr. Raj Karni, Senior Medical officer Dr. Tara Singh, Dr. Moninder Kaur, Dr. Gurdev Singh Bhatti, Dr.Deepak Jain were also present on the occasion.
