12th Barsi of late Pritam Kaur Teji on May 30th
Chandigarh, May 29, 2020 : 12th Barsi (yearly remembrance day ) of Late Pritam Kaur Teji will be held on May 30, 2020 at residence of family.
Late Sardarni Pritam Kaur Teji born in Bhangar, Distt. Ferozepur, Punjab. She along with her husband Late Sardar Parsa Singh Teji(practicing advocate in the High Court, Chandigarh) were in social welfare activity.
She joined the Indian National Congress(I) in the late 1970s after participating in the Congress Mataur Session of 1975 and contested the Parliamentary Elections from the Bathinda Parliamantary Lok Sabha Seat in 1977 as an independent and the only lady candidate since independence to do so. She was appointed as Joint Convenor Women Cell District Congress Committee in 1977. Appointed as Convenor District Congress Committee Faridkot in 1977.
She was nominated for Nathana Legislative Assembly Seat Punjab in 1977 by the Indian National Congress and was appointed District President Faridkot Punjab of Indian National Congress in 1980. She was also appointed as Joint Convenor Women Cell Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee in 1980 and contested elections from the Panjgrain Legislative Assembly Seat Punjab in 1980.
She was appointed as General Secretary Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Mahila Wing since 1990s onwards. Continued the Social welfare work with the Indian National Congress till 30th May, 2008 on which date she took her last breath.
She is survived by her elder daughter Pavitterpal Kaur (Retd. Secretary Punjab School Education Board) and Son-in-law Dr.Dalbir Singh(Former Commissioner Punjab Right to Service Commission), Elder son Justice P.S. Teji(Former Judge Delhi High Court and Chairperson Delhi Police Complaints Authority) and Smt. Navjot Neelam (Practising Advocate in Supreme Court of India), Daughter Prof.(Dr.) Jamit Kaur Teji (Member Punjab Public Service Commission) and Son-in-Law Dr. Sikander Singh (Chief General Manager Punjab Mandi Board), Daughter Shivinder Pal Kaur (Former Air-Hostess Air India) and Son-in-Law Rupinder Kumar, IPS (Joint Commissioner Delhi Police) and Sh. Charanjit Singh Teji (Punjab School Education Board) and Son Sh. B.B.S. Teji (Additional District and Sessions Judge Punjab) and Daughter-in-law Smt. Ranjana (Member Punjab State Protection of Child Rights Commission) and grand-sons and grand-daughters working in the different spheres.
