1st Junior Golf Camp organized after Unlock Commences at Mohali Golf Range
Mohali, October 17, 2002 : The first Golf Camp for Juniors subsequent to the Unlock orders commenced on 12 th October 2020 at Mohali Golf Rangeafter a long break due to the Covid 19 Lockdown with special emphasis on the safety of the players alongwith Contactless Golf .
While addreesing the participants , Harmeet Kahlon , Arjuna Awardee , Director of Golf at Mohali Golf Range said that we have introduced this camp during the festive season as many Juniors are tired and bored of sitting at home and as the weather is good they want to step out while maintaining all safety measures and using face masks, hand sanitizers for contactless golf. 8 juniors are participating initially and one of the main goals is that players do not touch the range balls with their hands as far as possible throughout their golf practice session. In the hitting area , the range balls are being delivered at the numbered hitting bays and the participants are instructed to leave the buckets there itself so that the buckets are not touched by the players. The range balls are washed regularly with soap and water. Astroturf Mats have been arranged so that there is minimum of 6 feet distance between players and bunkers will be raked by the horticulture staff . Paper receipts are being avoided and digital payments are being encouraged completely. Many juniors are co operating and understanding the values of social and physical distancing through golf that as golf players they must play a responsible leadership role to get back to sports and golf and show the way forward to live and play sports responsibly through discipline and self hygine in times of social distancing due to Covid 19. Golf itself is not a contact sport and in that way it is safer than other sports . Proper planning and strict implementation is being done and players are being screened upon entry and masks are compulsory. Aarogyasetu app is recommended to be downloaded and the Government Advisories are being followed. Golf is one of the rare sports where Juniors can learn the sport in this way.”Being a flexible camp , juniors can join anytime to complete the 10 sessions or more . It is open for both boys and girls and is open to non members also. This Junior Golf Camp being conducted 5 days a week on tuesdays, thursdays and fridays from 5 pm to 5 45 pm and on saturday and sunday from 11 am to 11 45 am . Participants will not have to buy any expensive golf equipment as all golf equipment , balls, coaching fees , club fees is included in the fees. The Camps are being conducted by Ms. Preetinder Kaur, Coach of Mohali Golf Range under the guidance of Arjuna Awardee Golfer , Harmeet Kahlon . Mohali Golf Range has conducted many annual free Golf Programmes including the free ladies golf camp and free special children golf camp which are a huge success and in this way we wish to slowly encourage Juniors back to theOlympic Sport of Golf at a reasonable cost Mohali Golf Range has initiated over 1000 new players into golf from age 3 to age 80 including approximately 400 young boys and girls of the Mohali Area thereby contributing to produce medal winners from Punjab in the future Olympics and Asian Games etc. Ozaswani Saraswat age 7 , Mohul Dhingra age 14 , Yuvraaj Singh Hara , age 16 are all excelling in the regional tournaments .The 10 session fees starts at Rs. 3098 per child for Members and Rs. 3717 for non members and will include 10 sessions of coaching, free balls, free child specific golf equipment , entry fees etc and cover all aspects including golf orientation, warm up, hitting, putting, chipping, bunker play etc .
