Ankita Raina and Natasha Palha, bot of India, had mixed fortunes as the won their respective singles first round matches but were beaten in the doubles first round respective fixtures in the $ 25,000 Women's Tennis Tournament at Andijan (Uzbekistan).
Seeded fifth Ankita Raina disposed of the challenge of Polina Merenkova of Uzbekistsan in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in 64 minutes.
Natasha Palha emerged first-round winner against Margarita Lazareva of Russia in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in one hour.
Fourth seeded pair of Ankita Raina of India and Anna Morqina of Russia were surprised by Kamila Kerimbayeva of Kazkhastan and Ilona Kremen of Belarus 6-3, 6-3 in doubles first round match.
Natasha Palha, partnering Gabriella Taylor of Great Britain, put up stiff restance against Veronika Kapshay of Ukraine and Valeria Savinykh of Russia. The Uzbek-Russian pair won by 5-7, 6-2, 10-2.
NEERAJ LOSES: Tadayuki Longhi of Japan defeated Neeraj Elangovan of India by 6-4 6-1 in singles first round match in the $ 10,000 ITF Men's Futures in Guam today.
