Chandigarh, February, 2017: The Haryana Government would soon recruit 600 new coaches to enable sportspersons in the State to perform better. This was disclosed by Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, who was speaking at the closing ceremony of four-day Senior State Football Championship in Gurugram today. He gave away cash prize of Rs 1.51 lakh to the winning Fatehabad team, which beat Rohtak 3-0 to clinch the title. He also gave away cash prize of Rs one lakh to the runner-up team. Capt. Abhimanyu said that the awards which were to be given away by the previous government were also being conferred by the present State Government, which had given away cash prizes to recipients of Bhim Awards in one go. The previous government had announced several awards for sportspersons, but had not acted on these announcements. During the first six months of its tenure, the present State Government had given away about Rs 80 crore as cash prizes to sportspersons, including for the awards announced by the previous government. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by the State Government to promote sports.
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today announced that any coach of Haryana who would participate in the Olympics as referee would be awarded Rs 15 lakh. Mr Manohar, who was interacting with media persons at the Bhim Awards felicitation function here today, said that this incentive would be on the pattern of the motivation being given to the sportspersons participating in the Olympics. He said that the Government has already announced to give Rs six crore to gold medal winner of Olympics, Rs four crore to silver medal winner and Rs 2.5 crore to bronze winner.
