Phillaur, May 19, 2017: In 18th All India Police Band Competition-2017, CRPF has won the overall trophy at Punjab Police Academy Phillaur. The event was conducted in collaboration with all India Sports Control Board, in which Sh. Suresh Arora IPS Director General of Police Punjab was the chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, DGP said that it was a matter of great pride to host the 18th All India Police Band Competition in which police from 17 states and 7 central polices forces were participating. He said that Police band is an important part of ceremonial performance in the police which can be further strengthened through including a more competitive sprit among the policeman by holding professional skills competitions like All India Police Band Competition.
Sh. Kuldeep Singh IPS ADGP Training Cum-Director PPA and Chairman 18th All India Police Band Competition-2017 welcomed the chief Guest. Ms Anita Punj IPS IG-cum- Addl. Director and Organizing Secretary 18th All India Police Band Competition said that the All India Police Band Competition is held every year since 2000. This year a total number of 24 teams were participating from across the country competed in different categories of brass and Pipe Band and Bugle Calls.
In brass band competition gold medal has won by Rajasthan police and BSF jointly, Silver medal by CRPF and Bronze medal by Maharastra and Punjab police jointly. In Pipe band competition Gold medal went to CRPF and Maharastra Police jointly, silver medal to Punjab Police and bronze medal to Jammu and Kashmir police. Bugler calls competition category, CRPF has won the gold medal, Punjab Police silver medal and bronze medal by Jammu and Kashmir Police. Best conductor medal won by west Bengal in brass band and Maharastra in Pipe band.
Suresh Arora presented to medals to the winner in different categories in the competition and congratulated the participant and extraordinary performance in the prestigious event.
The Closing Ceremony was followed by a colourfull cultural program performed by the trainees of the academy.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, IG Mr. Arpit Shukla, SSP Jalandhar Rural Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar were also present on the occasion.
