Cancer train to become history as Bathinda gets cancer treatment machine
Bathinda, July 7, 2017: The train carrying cancer patients from Bathinda to Rajasthan will soon become history as Amarinder government is making consistent efforts to provide the best of cancer care and treatment.
And the cancer patients in state will then need not go to other states, said Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra after inaugurating state-of-the-art Rs 25 cr worth linear accelerator machine at the Advanced Cancer Institute, Mansa Road, Bathinda.

The machine is meant to provide advance treatment to cancer patients wherein only the cancer affected cells of body are destroyed and the healthy cells are spared.
This kind of treatment is known as targeted treatment wherein cancer cells are the target. It results in easier and sooner recovery of the patient thereby minimizing trauma. This advanced treatment is available free of cost.
He also interacted with the cancer patients asking them about their well-being and the services provided to them at Advanced Cancer Institute.
Vice-Chancellor Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Dr Raj Bahadur, Director of the Advanced Cancer Institute Dr RK Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra and Civil Surgeon Dr R S Randhawa were among those present.
