Indian duo of Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi defeated third seeds Misaki Doi of Japan and Danka Kovinic of Montenegro in the doubles semi-final of the $125,000 Taipei OCE Open in Chinese Taipei.
In the semi-final which lasted one hour and 35 minutes, the Indian pair, after losing the first set in tie-breaker 6 (2)-7, bounced back into the game by winning the second set at 6-4. Tied one-set all the semi-final match was extended to super tie-break which Ankita-Kamran clinched at 10-8 and reserved berth in final.
Ankita-Kamran released four aces and committed a single double fault. They won 77 per cent (37/48) on first service and 52 per cent (13/25) on the second service. The Indian pair saved four out of six break points and won three out of seven break points.
Doi-Kovinic won 70 per cent (33/47) points on first service and 50 per cent (14/28) on the second service. They saved four out of seven break points. Doi-Kovinic won two out six break points.
Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi will now cross swords with fourth seeded Russian combination of Olga Doroshina and Natela Dzalamidze who upset second seeds Xinyun Han and Luksika Kimkhum of Thailand in the second semi-final by straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in 59 minutes.
