Batala, November 30, 2018: “The 28th edition of the widely renowned ‘Kamaljit Games-2018’ would see the 7 medal winners of the Asian Games (Jakarta 2018) hailing from Punjab being honoured with the cash awards.” This was disclosed here today in a press communiqué by Mr. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Chairman of Surjit Sports Association which is the organizing institution of the games. These 7 players from Punjab would be honoured with various awards and a total prize money of Rs. 1.50 lakh on 2nd December at the closing ceremony of the games at Surjit-Kamaljit sports complex. It is worth mentioning that these games are being held at village Kotla Shahian from 29th November to 2nd December.
The names of the 7 players were disclosed today in a meeting of the award selection committee constituted under the stewardship of Prof. Gurbhajan Gill. The committee included President of the Association Pirthipal Singh SP and Senior Vice President and famous sports writer Navdeep Singh Gill also. Prof. Gill said that the Gold medal winner in shotput event at Asian Games Tejinder Pal Singh Toor would be conferred Major Vajinder Singh Sahi Yaadgari Punjab Gaurav award, Gold medal winner in Triple Jump Arpinder Singh would be conferred Kamaljit Yaadgari award, Gold medal winner in Rowing Swaran Singh Virk and Sukhmeet Singh would be conferred Harjit Singh Brar Yaadgari award, Silver winner in Women’s hockey Gurjit Kaur and Silver winner in Women’s Kabaddi Randeep Kaur would be felicitated with ‘Majhe Da Maan’ award, Silver winner in Women’s hockey Reena Khokhar would be conferred Amarjit Singh Grewal and Bronze winner in Men’s hockey Rupinder Pal Singh would be felicitated with Olympian Surjit Singh Yaadgari award.
Divulging more, Prof. Gill said that all these players would be honoured with the prize money of Rs. 21,000 each, commendation certificate and books.
