Globally renowned cardio-vascular surgeon Dr Bedi joins prestigious Shalby Hospital, Mohali

Mohali, January 5, 2019: One of the senior most Cardio Vascular Surgeons of India, Dr Harinder Singh Bedi has taken over as Chief Consultant Cardio Vascular Endovascular & Thoracic Sciences Department of the prestigious Shalby Hospital at Mohali, Punjab.
“I take on this mantle with great humility and solicit the good wishes of all my friends and well wishers. Our Heart Lung & Vascular Team plans to make a centre of excellence to serve our people. The team has highly skilled professionals some of whom have been with me for over 25 years,” said the globally known surgeon on joining Shalby Hospital.
On the occasion, he shared that his aim is to start heart and lung transplants also so that patients from this area need not go to Delhi or Chennai for transplants.
Dr Bedi is credited with 3 world first surgeries documented in the Limca Book of World Records. He was the first to document the first series of 100 patients of multi-vessel beating heart surgery with angiographic follow up. This was published in the most prestigious cardiac surgery journal – the Annals of Thoracic Surgery – and also in the Limca Book of World Records .
Dr Bedi has earlier worked at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Australia where he has had extensive training in Heart and Lung transplant . He has also recently used the 3D printing technology for treating a large lung malformation – this was the first time in the word that this was ever done.
He also has an innovative procedure which is named after him – the Bedi-LIMA buttress technique.
