CHANDIGARH, February 13, 2019: The Masters of Road to Wimbledon National Tennis Series for boys under 14 years will be conducted by Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association on the grass courts of Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, from March 11 to 16.. The Road to Wimbledon event is conducted at selected places in the world to identify young players at age 14 years who would be playing Wimbledon and in other Grand Slam Tennis tournaments in the years to come.
This year Chandigarh has the privilege of conducting the Indian leg of the international event for junior players. The arrangements for this event were reviewed by Rajan Kashyap, Patron-in-Chief and Jai Singh Gill, President, CLTA with Sandeep Sahani, President and Sonal Noorpuri, Honorary Secretary, Chandigarh Club. Rahul from IMG Reliance, the promoters, also joined this meeting.
India’s top ranked 16 players under 14 boys will be participating in this event. The top 2 players from the tournament will have the privilege of playing on the world famous Wimbledon courts, and at several other venues in the UK later during the year.
The team from All India Tennis Association and Road to Wimbledon will arrive in Chandigarh on March 10. Mr. Dan Bloxham, Head Coach, Road to Wimbledon will conduct clinics at Chandigarh Club, CLTA Tennis Stadium and prominent schools to popularize the game of Tennis in the region. This event links the city of Chandigarh with Wimbledon Tennis Club. It would inspire the young players from the city to aim for top honours.
