Dr Harinder Singh Bedi delivering his guest lecture at the Medinspire conference in Mumbai
Mohali, February 19, 2019: Dr Harinder Singh Bedi, Chief Consultant Cardio Vascular Endovascular & Thoracic Sciences at Shalby Hospital Mohali earned another distinction of delivering guest lectures before distinguished gathering of international and national experts at the prestigious Medinspire 2019 conference.
The conference was organized by DY Patil University in Mumbai which concluded on February 17, 2019. Dr Bedi was invited to deliver two guest lectures on Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery at the conference which is considered as one of the largest international medical multi-disciplinary summits.
Dr Bedi delivered his first lecture on beating heart arterial bypass surgery .He is a pioneer in this field having the world’s first series of 100 patients with multivessel beating heart surgery with angiographic follwoup. This technique was published in the medical journals and in the Limca Book of World Records .
The talk was much appreciated by a large National and International gathering of heart surgeons including Dr Prof Alistair Royse from Australia, Dr Carlos from Zurich, Dr Asai from Japan and Dr KM Cherian from Chennai.
He also chaired three important sessions there.
Dr Bedi started the first heart surgery centre in the private sector in Punjab in 1995 and has a number of other world first surgeries which have made cardio vascular surgery safe and predictable . He is one of the senior most Cardio Vascular surgeons of India.
He has earlier worked at the St Vincents Hospital in Australia where he has had extensive training in Heart and Lung transplant . His second lecture was on 3D printing technology for treating a large lung malformation – this was the first time in the word that this was ever done . Dr Bedi also has an innovative procedure which is named after him – the Bedi-LIMA buttress technique .
Dr Bedi said that at the Shalby Hospital in Mohali all such procedures are carried out with a full time Heart Team . The aim is to deliver International level cardio-vascular services to the people of this region. Since it is a multi specialty hospital so a full back up is always available.
