New Delhi, May 30, 2019 (UNI) Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokharyal 'Nishank' on Thursday was inducted in to the Council of Ministers led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
'Nishank', who won from Haridwar, was also the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2009 to 2011. He was also elected in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Elected to the Uttar Pradesh assembly for the first time in 1991 from Karnaprayag constituency, he served as
U P Minister for Development, Culture and Religion for many years. After a new state was carved out from Uttar Pradesh, Pokhariyal headed 12 departments in the year 2000.
Born in a very poor family, Pokhriyal has been writing poems and stories since childhood. His first collection “Samarpan” was published in 1983. He has authored various anthologies and novels, as well as children's literature and personal development books.
