May.24, 2020: To safeguard livestock against Haemorrhagic Septicaemia the district Animal Husbandry department has deployed 42 vaccination teams comprising of veterinary doctors and paravet staff to vaccinate approximately 1.40 Lakh populations of livestock in the district, said Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr Gurinder Singh Walia after launching the campaign at Shri Krishna Gaushala Sirhind Mandi today. He despatched 10 teams to different gaushalas and a cattle pound at village Garholian in the district.
He said that the Animal Husbandry minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa had provided great relief to the livestock farmers by the waiving off government fee for vaccinating against different infectious diseases in cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, pig and poultry. He further divulged that under the Pashu Sanjeevani project, farmers would be issued grey coloured health cards for buffalo, green for exotic cows and orange for indigenous cows, which would contain all details about animal, ear tag, vaccination status, artificial insemination, etc, which would help in better record keeping and ensure astute planning to run the dairy farms scientifically for better income.
He urged the village panchayats and progressive farmers that they should impress upon the livestock owners to get their animals vaccinated 100%, so that the area becomes a disease free zone. This would incentivize greater productivity and sale, including exports.
