S.A.S. Nagar, May 24, 2020: The Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan has issued directions on maintaining the hygiene and sanitization of barber shops & hair cut saloons in order to ensure safety from the corona virus, as per the advisory of the Health Department, Punjab.
The owner of the barbershop/hair cut saloon would ensure that any staff member having symptoms of covid-19 (Fever, Dry Cough, Breathing Difficulty) would stay at home and seek medical advice. Similarly, no client having such symptoms should be attended.
All clients should be asked to avail services unless necessary (such as parent/guardian). The owners of the saloon/barber shop should ensure that there is no unnecessary crowding. The clients must also wear the mask while availing services. The owners and staff members should also use the mask.
All guidelines related to prevention of covid-19 such as frequent hand washing with soap and water or alcohol based hand sanitizer and maintaining physical distancing of 1 metre, following respiratory hygiene, keeping a watch over disease symptoms, no spitting in public, must be followed. Though the shop owners should encourage digital payments but In case of the use of cash transaction method, the shopkeeper, staff and the clients should sanitize their hands immediately before and after each cash transaction.
The indoor areas including service rooms, waiting areas, workstations should be cleaned every 2-3 ours. The floors must be cleaned with 1 percent sodium hypochlorite. Besides, the furniture and frequently touched surfaces and articles should be regularly cleaned/sanitized. Most importantly, the tools such as razors, scissors, combs and the styling tools should be wiped with 1 percent sodium hypochlorite after evry use. The robes, towels and the related items should be clean and regularly washed robes, towels must not be reused for multiple clients.
