Says Batala police district continued to remain vortex of political killings
Chandigarh, May 25, 2020: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today condemned the brutal murder of Akali worker Manjot Singh and murderous assault of two other youth including a NRI, saying political killings continued unabated in Punjab even during lockdown.
In a statement here, the SAD President said Batala police district continued to remain the vortex of political killings, saying earlier too the district had witnessed Dhilwan Sarpanch Dalbir Singh being murdered in a shootout. He said like in the earlier case, this time also the Batala police had failed to move quickly and arrest the accused even though they had been identified.
Mr Sukhbir Badal demanded the immediate arrest of all those associated with the murder of Manjot and the murderous assault on his associates. He also asked chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh to rein in Congressmen who were taking the law in their own hands to settle political scores. He said in case the government did not give justice to the bereaved family, the SAD would fight to get justice in the case. He also assured free legal aid to the aggrieved family besides offering his heartfelt condolences.
